Top 10 Internet Companies To Watch For 2015

Two websites are at the top of the purchases made on the Internet. eBay Inc. (EBAY) and Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN) are two websites where you can buy and sell the products you want. The difference between them is that Amazon is more specialized in books, CDs and DVDs, while eBay specializes in digital technology.

A Major E-Commerce Player

eBay provides online platforms, tools, and services , helping in online and mobile commerce and payments in the U.S. and internationally. It owns one of the world's most popular e-commerce destinations, which bears its name, as well as PayPal. It is organized into three businesses: marketplaces, payment and enterprise. Revenues in 2012 were: 52% came from marketplaces, 40% from payment, and 8% from enterprise. In the last quarter the company recorded earnings that were above the Zacks estimates.

Extremely Successful Drivers

Several growth catalysts like new innovations in the Marketplaces segment as well as strategic acquisitions make me feel confident about eBay麓s future. The company owned Bill Me Later (online payments), Gmarket (Asia-focused e-commerce), eBay Enterprise (formerly GSI Commerce) (enterprise commerce and marketing solutions), Shopping.com (comparison shopping), StubHub (online ticket sales) and PayPal (online payments). This one accounts for about 40% of the firm麓s 2012 revenue and provides plenty of expansion opportunities. In the U.S. shows great acceptance by online retailers, in addition to processing a quarter of the domestic transactions. In June 2011, EBAY acquired GSI Commerce will contribute to cross-selling opportunities and capacity worldwide. This is an essential service that Amazon already offers very successfully. We expect for the future that the company continues seeking for strategic acquisitions to improve its businesses. Moreover, in the mobile commerce arena, the firm focuses in easy and useful mobile apps, becoming one of the top 10 most popular Android apps. We consider this should drive growth even furt! her in the years to come.

Both iPhone and iPad sales came in ahead of expectations, and that's despite increasingly tough competition from Samsung and Google (NASDAQ: GOOG  ) , among others. Mac sales fell slightly year over year, but nowhere near as much as the 15% PC market downturn that's plaguing Dell (NASDAQ: DELL  ) and Hewlett-Packard (NYSE: HPQ  ) , among others.

Google (GOOG) was, to me, just a search engine. I never actually realized the company had taken over the world until it was too late.

Truthfully, there does not appear to be anything that Google doesn’t have its hands in. Email. Productivity apps. Tablets and smartphones. Maps. Translators. Payment services.

David Ramos/Getty Images SAN FRANCISCO -- Facebook chief executive Mark Zuckerberg blasted the U.S. government's electronic surveillance practices Thursday, saying he'd personally called President Barack Obama to voice his displeasure. "When our engineers work tirelessly to improve security, we imagine we're protecting you against criminals, not our own government," Zuckerberg said in a post on his personal Facebook page. "I've called President Obama to express my frustration over the damage the government is creating for all of our future. Unfortunately, it seems like it will take a very long time for true full reform," the 29-year-old Zuckerberg said. The phone call and Zuckerberg's 300-word missive Thursday come amid a series of revelations about controversial government surveillance practices that were leaked by former National Security Agency contractor Edward Snowden. "The president spoke last night with Mark Zuckerberg about recent reports in the press about alleged activities by the U.S. intelligence community," a White House official said. The official declined further comment and referred to the National Security Agency's statement released earlier Thursday saying recent media reports that allege the NSA has infected million of computers around the world malware and that the NSA is impersonating U.S. social media or other websites are inaccurate. Facebook (FB), which operates the world's No. 1 Internet social network with 1.2 billion users, declined to comment beyond Zuckerberg's post. Secret documents published on news website The Intercept showed Wednesday that the NSA impersonated Facebook web pages in order to gather information from targets. When those people thought they were logging into Facebook, they were actually communicating with the NSA. The agency then used malicious code on the fake page to break into the targets' computers and remove data from them. Last year, Facebook moved to encrypt all its pages, making such impersonat

Interesting… so we got negative earnings from [Goldman Sachs (GS), eBay (EBAY), International Business Machines (IBM). And SPX doing very well. You can argue that EBAY does not have broad relevance to market, and that GS is really a quarter to quarter thing, where earnings this quarter tell us little about next quarter (trading), but IBM is a big deal as it is a good measure of spending on IT. So SPX performance very impressive, even though it is driven to some extent by defensives/ rates plays (utilities, telcos etc). This is a good sign. The market wants to go up into year end.

This is also a cue to the big plans of Facebook regarding e-commerce because it is now transitioning into a holistic platform that provides the sellers with a two-fold advantage, provides an easy portal to effect sales and provides a bounty of information to the business owners/advertisers that helps the companies to leverage their sales by building encompassing sales strategies. Now, the induction of PayPal president will be the icing on the cake as Facebook will prove to be a huge challenge to the likes of Amazon (AMZN) and eBay (EBAY).

Suddenly, Google (NASDAQ: GOOG  ) is getting grabby. According to a report from the Google Operating System, a new service called Google Mine is in the works that would allow Google+ users to document and share what they own.

All Google will say is that it is always working on new things. No news there. But imagine if Google Mine does come to be. Not only could you share notes about your collections, or document valuables for insurance purposes, but you could also Imagine a barter system whereby you sell or trade via Google+, with any money exchanged via Google Wallet. A tailored credit or debit card might not be far behind, says Fool contributor Tim Beyers in the following video.

At the very least, the idea threatens eBay (NASDAQ: EBAY  ) . The company depends on an ever-increasing volume of transactions to fund growth. In Q1, the auctioneer was responsible for $49 billion worth of commerce. By 2015, eBay wants to enable $300 billion in commerce annually, up from $175 billion last year. Google Mine, like Craigslist before it, could stand in the way of that.

Do you agree? Please watch the video to get Tim's full take, and then let us know if having Google Mine would make you more or less bullish on the search king's long-term prospects.

Are you ready for all the expenses that come with the holidays? Let's make it a little less stressful by looking at eight ways to save in the next eight weeks. 1. Trim Your Budget The quickest way to having more cash is to go through your budget and cut down on anything that's unnecessary. Can you give up eating out for a month or two? What about going without getting your hair done? In the spirit of giving to others, try to temporarily cut down spending on yourself. By simply asking your service providers for less expensive options, you may secure a discount or a reduced rate. I just did this with my phone bill. I had an unlimited data plan, and I switched to 3 gigs of data and cut my bill by 40 percent. The worst that can happen is that the company representative says no -- but the best is you could save money on monthly bills just by asking. 2. Make Your Gifts Have a Pinterest-surfing session and get on the hunt for handmade gift ideas. Do you have any artistic abilities, like painting, drawing or knitting? Put those skills to use. If handmade gifts aren't your thing, consider making your own greeting cards. Plus, your card recipients will feel extra special after receiving such a thoughtful item in the mail or at a holiday gathering. 3. Change Your Tax Withholding If you normally receive a tax refund, try adjusting your tax withholding at your job so that your next few paychecks are a little bigger. That will mean more money in your pocket around the holidays, but a smaller refund. That's not necessarily a bad thing. Getting money back via a tax refund means the government got an interest-free loan from you. Turn that around and enjoy that interest-free loan for yourself. 4. Strategically Plan Your Shopping Plan when it comes to both everyday shopping and shopping for holiday gifts. Consolidate your shopping to a day or two during the week and shop at a cluster of stores if possible. That reduces both mileage, which saves gas, and time (which may s

Since the news about the metadata sharing was made public, rumors rose about another secret government program said to be named PRISM, which many major media providers are saying today is more than rumor. Under such a supposed program, the NSA is alleged to have access to emails and other Internet data. However, major service providers in the field have denied any knowledge of any such program and any participation in such a program. Apple (AAPL) says it does not provide any government agency with direct access to its servers. Google (GOOG) says it does not have a back door for the government to access data. Microsoft (MSFT), Facebook (FB) and Yahoo (YHOO) have also all denied being a party to any such effort. CYNK Technology (CYNK), the mysterious over-the-counter stock that at one point broke a $6 billion market cap, dropped roughly 80 percent in its first trades after a Securities and Exchange Commission halt. The SEC halted CYNK for two weeks following a massive rise in the stock's value -- it had been worth only a few cents per share in June, but it jumped above $21 on July 10. The Belize-based CYNK Technology supposedly operates a social networking site, but filings indicate it only has one employee and virtually no assets. Experts told CNBC the week of the SEC halt that they expected CYNK to fall precipitously after reopening, and its first day of trading is proving those predictions correct. When it was halted, the stock was worth just less than $14 per share, and is now below $3 a share after briefly hovering around $5 earlier Friday morning. An OTC Markets spokeswoman told Reuters that CYNK's shares were not trading on its platform, but were occurring over the phone. Earlier this week Reuters reported that OTC's CEO did not expect CYNK to trade on its platform at all after reopening, as no brokerages would file the required paperwork for the stock to trade on their exchanges. An SEC spokesman said that the organization cannot comment on the status of a company after a suspension period ends, citing an online explanation of the process. That document notes that broker-dealers may not solicit investors to trade the previously suspended OTC stock until they satisfy several regulatory requirements. The SEC warned, however, that "unsolicited" trading may occur after a reopening -- as CYNK is now seeing -- but "even though such trading is allowed, it can be very risky for investors without current and reliable information about the company."

Rather than pick the obvious candidates, I also like to look for great stocks to buy that might not be on most investorsradar. Here are three such stocks to buy:

    InterActiveCorp (IACI)

InterActiveCorp (IACI) is Barry Diller conglomerate of internet companies, not terribly different from John Malone Liberty Interactive (LINTA).
